knotty knitting

had this salad over at matyson the other night
thought i would try to make it at home
found the most gorgeous watermelon the other day and also happened to purchase sheep's milk feta
left out the jalapenos and red onion
but it was delicious anyway
i think it might become a summer craving...
the basic recipe is:
big chunks of sweet, juicy watermelon (i used about 3 cups)
crumbled sheep's milk feta
baby arugula
balsamic (just a touch)
olive oil (i used 2-3tbs)
cracked pepper
hmmmmmm.............
lost in a sea of summer goodness just thinking about it...

some knitting today...not a lot
but i am looking forward to the finished object:

the thinking dress is on hold
it became clear to me that i didn't have enough yarn!
not by much...so i found a skein of the same color on ebay and i'll just have to work it in
thank goodness i hadn't started on the back yet
so i'll try to alternate rows with the original yarn and the new
i've never tried this before...hope it works!

it's from an old cookbook that has been in our family since the early 80's
paula peck's art of good cooking
it's really quite special
and so is paula peck's art of fine baking
they are both kitchen staples as far as i'm concerned
unfortunately, they are both out of print but i've found them in used book stores
whenever i see either of them i snatch them up to give as gifts
(if anyone's interested in the recipe, let me know!)

little treasures from the local organic farmer's market:

they are like candy
some kind of variety that has low acidity
so all you get is the sweet!
we mixed them up with a bowl of guacamole i made tonight
not counting the handful i couldn't help eating as soon as i walked in the door

no knitting tonight
just cooking and eating
i'm pooped
